the Hero of Divine Wrath

Kerris the Apprentice of Undeath is sleeping here.
Kerris wakes and stands up.
Kerris looks at you.

Information on Kerris:
Kerris the Apprentice of Undeath
Necrophile

Description:
A small fae man is here before you. A bright white shock of hair sits atop his head looking
wild and unkempt. His skin is an ashen grey color and is smooth and unblemished like that
of a doll. Black eyes rest above a thin, pointed nose and a pair of protruding pearly canines.
His body is covered by tiny black and gold robes, no more than a wisp of cloth that drapes
from his shoulders to his toes.

Kerris nods.

Pruflar nods slightly.

You say, 'tell me, Kerris...in whom do you put your faith?'

Kerris tilts his head slightly to the side.

You wear a golden cloak around your neck.

Along the Eastern Road
You are traveling down the eastern road between Ethshar and the eastern
lands. The road back to Ethshar is west of you while the Eastern Road
winds onward to the east. You see a beautiful grove of trees up north,
and a dirt path wanders off to the south.

[Exits: north east south west]
Kerris the Apprentice of Undeath is here.

Kerris says, 'It is not whom, but what. I put my faith in intellect.'

You say, 'intellect...'

Kerris says, 'Though I realize, speaking to a zealot, this is likely to be an unsatisfactory answer.'

You say, 'what shall intellect do for you when needed?'

Pruflar offers a slender hand briefly.

Kerris says, 'It shall require me to make my own way, and survive on my own recognizance.'

You say, 'unsatisfactory...this is not a word I use often.'

You say, 'rather I seek to learn...I seek..intellect myself, yes...'

Kerris says, 'Ah, perhaps then a slightly different zealot.'

Kerris says, 'Perhaps I erred in my assumptions...'

You say, 'My zeal is true...and strong. Do not doubt.'

Kerris thoughtfully taps his chin with his index finger.

Kerris says, 'There are many types of zeal to be sure. I am used to only seeing the blind variety.'

You say, 'however, my message is not so...rigid.'

Kerris tilts his head forward in a slight nod.

Pruflar offers soft chuckle.

Kerris says, 'Ah, an informed and intelligent zeal could be quite a powerful thing.'

Kerris grins.

You say, 'I am blind to all else.'

You feel less protected.
You feel less armored.

Kerris smirks.

You say, 'in fact I welcome such blindness so I may see unfettered by the views of others.'

You feel aligned with darkness.
You feel someone protecting you.

Kerris says, 'Hah! A delicious irony in that I think.'

The thunderclap from the storm seems to cease.

You say, 'merely an understanding...of truth.'

c bless kerris
You grant Kerris the favor of Rungekutta.

Kerris says, 'I need not ask where you put your own faith then. I see you pray to the crescent lord.'

Kerris utters the word, 'olgabar'.

You say, 'the Father shows me what I need to see...the rest I do for him.'

Pruflar offers a nod of agreement.

Kerris says, 'I wonder what it is that attracts you to the Worm's tenets.'

You say, 'ah, to know who I am would perhaps take a life time.'

Kerris says, 'His ways, like the ways of many gods, can be quite widely interpreted.'

Pruflar shrugs softly.

You say, 'so I have heard...thus is the succor to secrets and mysteries.'

Pruflar grins greedily.

Kerris says, 'Mmm...'

Kerris thoughtfully taps his lip with a single finger.

You say, 'I merely do not struggle against the inevitable. '

You look up and notice that it is no longer raining.

Kerris says, 'Secrets and mysteries hold quite an attraction. They usually whisper of power to those that seek then.'

Kerris says, 'Ah!'

You say, 'rather I gleefully salt the earth, and sow the mind.'

Kerris extends a single finger high in the air.

Kerris says, 'You mention the inevitable!'

Kerris says, 'Do you mean in the sense that all things are destined to a single path, or more specifically.. of death.'

Kerris's lips curl up into a wide grin.

The sky gets very cloudy and a calmness begins here.

You say, 'impurities are unavoidable...be it death or hubris...'

You say, 'the path itself is the prison.'

The sun slowly disappears in the west.

Kerris sits down and thinks deeply.

You feel less righteous.
You lose the buffer of your curse warding.

Kerris says, 'So you believe each creature has a single destiny, an unbreakable path in their life, not unlike a prison?'

The thunderclap from the storm seems to cease.

The night has begun.

You say, 'indeed my beliefs are mine alone, as for the rest they fortify their own bars as I no doubt construct mine.'

Kerris says, 'Ah, indeed. Interesting...'

Kerris says, 'The crescent lord's own path, the life he lead, is indeed something worth emulating I believe.'

You say, 'would you not agree that that the ideal of destiny is itself a self-fulfilling prophecy?'

Kerris purses his lips thoughtfully.

You say, 'Do we not find bias to ensure our stance is correct even when confronted with, perhaps...overwhelming truth to the opposite?'

You say, 'food for thought...Kerris....food for thought.'

Kerris says, 'I believe you are defining zeal here, are you not?'

Kerris grins.

Kerris says, 'Speaking of food...'

Kerris gets Griff's Roast Duck from a Big Ol'Pack Sack.

Kerris gets Griff's Roast Duck from a Big Ol'Pack Sack.

Kerris eats Griff's Roast Duck.

Kerris eats Griff's Roast Duck.

Kerris says, 'The worm's pursuit of breaking the cycle of corruption is his most fascinating effort.'

Kerris says, 'The immutability of a pure, uncorruptable form is a goal I myself strive for as I learn within the guild.'

The thunderclap from the storm seems to cease.

Kerris says, 'Indeed, I hear tales of whole convents dedicated to this purpose. Though access to such a learn'ed faction is surely to be difficult.'

You say, 'indeed, one could correlate that you, my child, spread the faith with your mere existence....'

You say, 'only as difficult as it must be.'

You say, 'or as you make it.'

You snicker softly.

Kerris shrugs helplessly.

Kerris says, 'There are those that look upon the worm lord's works and see their purpose in creating the corruption, reveling in it and celebrating its effects.'

You say, 'and they are welcomed for their contributions'

Kerris says, 'There are others who look upon the same works and seek to raise themselves above corruption, much the way the worm lord himself was raised.'

You say, 'and their vision is oft rewarded....'

The thunderclap from the storm seems to cease.

Kerris says, 'Rarely though would it be rewarded on vision alone though I trust.'

Kerris grins.

Kerris says, 'One must act to be worthy of note.'

Kerris nods to himself self-assuredly.

You say, 'and those who act are acted upon in kind.'

Kerris says, 'Perhaps then you have before you the opportunity to serve your vision with action right here and now then...'

You feel less armored.
You feel less protected.

You say, 'by all means, then, enlighten me...for perhaps the Father has given you the gift...a word of prophecy.'

Pruflar narrows his eyes and unfolds his hands at his side.

Kerris says, 'It seems clear in my eyes that the crescent lord has provided you with the opportunity to offer support to a like-minded traveler in a shared vision.'

You no longer see invisible objects.
You feel less aware of your surroundings.

Kerris says, 'A new and nearly naked supplicant, standing across from a tried and tested veteran.'

The thunderclap from the storm seems to cease.

Kerris says, 'We must make our standings more equal, in cloth of naught else.'

Kerris grins.

You say, 'I see.'

Kerris nods slowly.

You say, 'you would ask of the Father to provide you with the means to protect yourself...to clothe you in the armor of faith...'

Kerris is in perfect condition. (100%)

Kerris is using:<really cool stuff maybe?>

Kerris says, 'Of a sort, yes.'

Kerris says, 'The meager wares make it difficult for me to acquire a nymph's heart for my guild's dark machinations, or to grow in experience.'

You say, 'then all you must do is fall to your knees and ask the Father to bless you and we shall see if his ears are open....'

Pruflar nods only once.

Kerris says, 'Let me suggest an alternative.'

Kerris says, 'The worm lord's supplicant supplies a fellow servant, and that servant gifts the supplicant with witness to a newly formed faith, and the sacrifice that it requires.'

Kerris says, 'A live desecration, if you will.'

Kerris tilts his head and smiles.

Kerris says, 'That is... if the supplicant values such displays of faith and desecration'

You say, 'speak plainly then, what newly formed faith do you offer for the bloodying of my hands to provide you with power?

A spring of holy water begins to flow here.

You drink water from a spring of holy water.
Your thirst is quenched.

Kerris drinks water from a spring of holy water.

A holy mushroom suddenly appears.

The thunderclap from the storm seems to cease.

Kerris says, 'Two-fold are the gifts I offer. A fellow supplicant, myself, as I'm unpledged as of yet in my faith.'

The thunderclap from the storm seems to cease.

You say, 'ah...a soul for the father...'

Kerris says, 'And.. the desecration that can only be achieved in bloody combat in service to the dark lord that accompanies a sacrifice.'

Pruflar points a boney, slender finger at you.

You say, 'your soul you pledge then?'

Kerris says, 'In return for mortal power.'

You say, 'is not the Father the deal maker?'

Kerris says, 'He is. And are you not his vessel on this plane?'

Kerris gets Griff's Roast Duck from a Big Ol'Pack Sack.

Kerris eats Griff's Roast Duck.

The thunderclap from the storm seems to cease.

You say, 'in the name of the Worm I shall find you some tokens of power and this heart you seek...for which you shall offer your soul to the Father.'

The sun rises in the east.

Kerris nods in enthusiastic agreement with you.

Kerris says, 'It is agreed then.'

You say, 'you shall go to your guild then...and I shall summon you shortly.'

Kerris nods sagely in your direction.

Kerris says, 'I look forward to your offering, as does the Dark Lord.'

You say, 'it would seem I have work to do in the name of the Father.'

Kerris grins evilly.

You step through a gate and vanish.

<gathering a few little trinkets here and there>

You say, 'a soul for some trinkets...'

You say, 'we shall see'

Market Square
You are standing in the heart of Ethshar. The square was made of
a mosaic of tiles forming flowing patterns all radiating outwards
from the center of the square. Most of the tiles now are broken
to pieces. What remains is a shattered remnant of its former glory.
In the center of the square is a large circle of broken statues
facing outwards from one another. The statues show no visible
representation remaining of what they once were except for the
plaques as their base. The names have nearly been scratched to
the point of being unreadable. But if you look closely you can
make out the names of -o-d -on--na, L--d M--ig--s, -ady U-a--,
L-r- Bar---, Lo-- Thry-, L--- R---k, Lo-- Re--i-n, and Lor- H---kin.
Gods of the long dead House of Outlaw. The benches that once
stood around the bases of the statues, have been broken to pieces,
and the garden nearly destroyed. To the north is the temple of
Ethshar and to the south is entrance to the Gardens.

The holy aura around your body fades.

You tell Kerris, 'come forth Kerris, for we have a short journey to make and then we shall see what we see'

East Main Street
You are on the main street that runs through the center of Ethshar.
The granite street majestically winds its way between the holy temple
to the north and the Garden's wall to the south. To the far east
the street eventually makes its way to the Eastern Gate, while to the
west the Market Square bustles with life.

[Exits: east west]
Kerris the Apprentice of Undeath is here.

Kerris nods.

You beckon for everyone to follow.

Kerris now follows you.

Kerris utters the word, 'olgabar'.

Kerris utters the word, 'oolgapgtazso'.
Kerris conjures up dark ethereal fabric to surround himself with a darkened shield.

Kerris utters the words, 'aculaictha aazag'.

Kerris nods.

You say, 'let us see if my faith can lead the way...'

<slight journey>

Between Blight and Canyon
The land here is ravaged and shattered. Cold chill winds sweep past you and down
through the canyon to the south, rushing toward the plains. Looking westward, you
see nothing but waste and desolation. It is not a pretty sight.

[Exits: south west]
Kerris has arrived.

You say, 'ahh...now this feels more like...home...'

You peer intently at Kerris.

You say, 'does it not?'

Kerris shivers and suffers.
Kerris's poison injures him.

Kerris smirks.

Kerris says, 'You're getting closer...'

You say, 'You are willing to bleed for your faith...'

Pruflar places a finger to his lips.

You say, 'perhaps I like blood...'

Before the Shrine of the Waning Crescent
Two columns of thick, white raw quartz slabs jut up out of the
ground here, parallel to each other, forming a path leading to an archway of
ancient granite that forms the entrance into the side of the mountain.
The symbol of a waning crescent moon fashioned from prehistoric amber
is embedded above the archway. You notice that all evidence of plant life,
even the grass, stops within 3 feet of the quartz pillars.

[Exits: north west]
Kerris has arrived.

You say, 'do you dare enter?'

Kerris says, 'Are you able to summon creatures here?'

You say, 'perhaps.'

Kerris says, 'The demonstration I have prepared will require a few to join us.'

Kerris peers intently north.

Obvious exits:
North - Darkened entrance
West - Too dark to tell

A stout stick of wood appears to come to life, hovering before you.
(Holy Aura) Kerris the Apprentice of Undeath is here.

Kerris says, 'As a necromancer, with a sense for death, I have some inkling of what lies ahead.'

You say, 'I would not....hasten our demise...'

Kerris says, 'The demonstration is better performed at the threshold of the shrine.'

You say, 'very well....'

Kerris says, 'For practical considerations like those, but also as I'm not yet joined as you are.'

Kerris looks at you.

Kerris says, 'Bring Young Jim and Maddie to us if you can.'

Maddie the local beauty arrives suddenly.

Young Jim arrives suddenly.

You say, 'Welcome....'

Kerris looks at Young Jim.

Kerris says, 'First, we prepare a sacrifice.'

You say, 'you both should be pleased with the honor Kerris shall bestow upon you.'

Kerris utters the words, 'btass hijbt'.
Kerris's chilling touch decimates Young Jim.

Young Jim's punch scratches Kerris.
Kerris's crush injures Young Jim.

Pruflar stands back and watches the display with ambivalence.
