Many centuries ago, a dwarven child was born of the clan Stonehands. Her father was a simple dwarf who worked the forge. He taught young Utara how to handle weapons as well as the art of metal craft. They lived quite well and Utara grew to be a strong young lass with a good heart but an insatiable yearning to cause mischief. As she grew into maturity, she began to notice an innate ability to work the basic magics which she rarely used wisely. Her favorite prank was summoning all of the elk from the nearby forest to a remote section of the woods during a hunt, so that not a single elk would be found. The fates smiled upon Utara one day as she was out preparing to sabotage the upcoming hunt planned for the next morn. A hoard of orcish warriors raided the small dwarven village. The dwarves fought well but were overwhelmed by sheer number. Utara returned to find her village a smoked ruin, pillaged and razed. Enraged, Utara vowed to destroy any creature who would commit such atrocities. During her travels, she unlocked more and more spells she had not known before, which she put to good use ruthlessly slaying all of the dark path. Eventually, she arrived in the lands known as the Dark Mists. Utara learned quickly of the new lands around her and set out to meet a band of adventurers who called their group Life. It seemed they shared Utara’s hunger for the death of darkwalkers, but even with such a serious task set before her, she often gave herself over to her impish nature. Both her prey and her friends found themselves targets for her mischief. During this time, Utara learned much and quickly became a hero of these new lands and a powerful, loyal member of House Life. The fates, however, had something else in store for the devious dwarven cleric. Utara soon realized that spending her life hunting the creatures of darkness was not her true calling and that she had to follow her heart. When she looked deep within herself to find her true calling, she found...Mischief. The one thing she had known well since childhood and could not escape. Nothing pleased her like causing trouble at the expense of another. Her powers were becoming quite potent and she set out to do what few others have been able to...ascend to the heavens. The pantheon looked to this young dwarf…far younger than any who had dared attempt to gain immortality and scryed her mind for true intent. Quickly, they discovered her desire to open the minds of others to the pleasures derived from a mischievous heart. On that day, the one the fates had decreed for her long ago, Utara became immortal. To this day Utara of the clan Stonehands resides above, watching over the mortals of Thera and encouraging people to follow her ways. ![]() Ideology Rules of Worship Holy Days |
