Thaust Ren'taul was born in the ancient city of Midgaard, during the dawn of Thera. Originally he was a thief by profession and spirit and was one of the first members of the Freedom Fighters of Outlaw; back when Outlaw shook the entire land with the slight mention of its name. Yet, he found the sheer power of the House somehow deeply troubling. Because of this, he retired from the House, living out his last days in Midgaard. He sold tools of the trade to young thieves, as well as teaching many young ones in the myriad ways of Thera. Thaust usually became involved in fights when the odds didn't seem fair (as can be expected of an expert thief; without the recipients knowing what hit them). Some legends say he died peacefully of old age in the Valley of Elves. Other legends say he was killed by an enraged husband in one of the seedier taverns of Arkham. Another legend says he met an untimely end when one of his practical jokes had unforeseen results. However it happened, he did die and his bones lay forgotten by nearly all. During a time when the greatest evil to face Thera swept the land, Lady Xyza and Lord Riallus attempted a new spell It was designed to conjure up a powerful magic to restore Balance to Thera. All of Thera trembled from this spell and a great wind rushed over the land. This storm finally coalesced and swirled around one spot. Gathering even more power, it blasted the earth from the center of the storm up to the heavens, laying the debris at the feet of Xyza and Riallus. As they looked down upon the dust and bones at their feet, a glowing blue light emanated from it; softly at first, but growing brighter until it out shined the very sun. And when the light faded, a young grey-elf lay upon the floor...Thaust Ren'taul had been resurrected. Thaust is the Master Craftsman of Balance. His ways are mysterious, yet are always purposeful. His symbol is that of a Sangen, which is commonly viewed as a triangle inside a square inside a circle. In truth, the three shapes are constantly changing their positions reflecting the current circumstances of their environment. Those who wish to follow the ways of balance should be well balanced in all aspects of their life. Membership in houses is frowned upon by those who seek True Balance, but accepted for a limited time only if the purpose is to help restore or maintain balance throughout Thera.
