Once a young grey-elf was abandoned at a simple mountain monastery. When the monks found the small child swaddled in thick blankets they did not know at first what to make of it. Should they take it to the nearest town and see if they could find it a home? Should they see if they could track down the mother? After much debate among the brothers it was decided the young child would be raised as one of them in the brotherhood. As the years passed the young child grew into a young man, one who excelled at the physical combat training provided by the monks to the brothers.

After seventeen years among the brothers at this secluded temple, the young grey-elf, named Nixalis by the brothers, sought permission from the monks to journey into the world at large. The monks reluctantly agreed, giving the young man all the supplies they could, enough to last him through the two week journey to Glyndane. There Nixalis arrived just as the great tournament of Lady Utara was beginning at the Arena west of the city. Thinking he could see something of this new world he was in, Nixalis purchased a ticket and was admitted into the spectator stands of the Arena. There, Nixalis saw something that would change his life forever. There, Nixalis witnessed a battle between a slender monk using the dragon style of fighting and a mage. With little effort the dragon monk defeated the mage. After the tournament Nixalis fought through the crowds searching for this monk. When he found him he asked who the monk was. The monk replied simply "Restin, Leader of the Crusades".

For many months after this Nixalis sought to learn more about the Crusades. He met many people who would have profound impact upon his life, people like a young troll warrior named Moloch, and many others who served under the banner of the Crusades. Most importantly, Nixalis learned of the religion of the Lord Darkwood. Upon learning of this Lord's religion of Honor, Natural Order and Battle Nixalis knew his calling. He would serve the Crusades, and he would serve the Lord Darkwood.

Many years passed, Nixalis rose in rank, both within the Crusades and in his Lord's religion until he attained the standing of Prophet of Honor. Within the Clan Nixalis eventually attained the rank of Leader, and for a time led the armies of the Crusades. Though serious about his duties, Nixalis had always possessed a deep sense of humor, one which sometimes got him into trouble with mortal and gods alike. Once in fact, Nixalis told the Lord Vrrin that when the hells froze over, Nixalis would serve Vrrin and his Lord. Upon Nixalis' death Vrrin, using power granted to him by the Dark Father Rungekutta froze the Nine Circles of Hell, forcing Nixalis' departing spirit to honor the vow he had made in jest.

Time stood still as Nixalis' spirit was trapped within the Circles of Hell where he was nothing so much as a timeless plaything for the demons who wandered the Hells. Torment and pain were all Nixalis knew as his spirit clung to the oaths he had sworn as a mortal to his Clan and his Lord. Time after time Nixalis' spirit railed out and in tormented cries screamed for his Lord. Only through the faith that his Lord would not abandon him did Nixalis' spirit withstand the torments of the demons arrayed against him.

After an eternity Nixalis looked up to see once more before him the figure of the Lord Vrrin. Demanding Nixalis' surrender, Vrrin grew angered when Nixalis stood against his demands. In his anger, Vrrin caused the opening Nixalis needed to be released from the Hells. Once more free of the Hells, Nixalis found himself to be more than mortal. In reward for his dedication and faith Nixalis was elevated to the Heavens, where he has taken the title of Lord of the Coiled Asp, God of Dedication, Integrity and Faith. Nixalis has returned to his Clan, the Clan of Steel, and taken his place alongside Darkwood and the other
gods and goddesses who watch over the Crusades.
