Illunus, the Divine Arch-Dragon

Areas of Influence: Fraternity, Scholarship and Vision
Symbol: The Wuctaagramuctay: The Spindle of Paramortal Harmony
Alignment: Evil
Race: Draconian

Illunus' early days were spent in an exploratory state of confusion. He did not fit in with the egregious role that his kin had for so long been guided by; he was not an aggressive hunter or slayer of the weak, a vulture of the dead or a measly pickpocket. Illunus didn't know quite what his role in life would be, but he knew that his inclinations were not of the nature his kin exhibited. As such, he set out to learn who he was and began study with the inherited strengths that he could feel within him. He began work studying as a sponge of magic, utilizing the natural flow that inherently poured from the world, through he, as if a natural conduit.

His ever-constant study of magic made him stick out among his peers, and soon he was well on his way to achieving distinction in his guild. He still had much to learn, however, for his identity did not rest within the channelers guild. Thus he set out to learn more of his people, to try to unearth more of why he was different than they seemed to be naturally disposed. He discovered a deep history rich with examples of greater and poorer kin, but most importantly he discovered that his ancestors were not draconian, but rather Dragon. As his studies delved deeper into the past - into the beginnings of the draconian race - Illunus recognized the common bond that binded all of his kin. The magic that he had studied for so many years and the Lady of the weave were the sources that united dragon-kind under a shared narrative. More than mere beings of life, draconians WERE the descendants of the ancient Para-mortals, created by the Lady herself as support beams for the weave.

As time wore on, Illunus knew that he was learning more about the realm then just the Weave and his kin, he was learning about himself. As his knowledge blossomed, an epiphany eventually struck him. His identity was not merely one of a draconian with past Dragon blood flowing through him, his place was that of a Para-mortal among mortals. His mortal shell was draconian, but his soul WAS Dragon.

As his fervor for study grew in this light, Illunus grew ambitious to change those around him. Long had he tired of the savagery that other draconians displayed; long had he grown tired of the tainted image that accompanied the polluted blood of his kin. Illunus sought to reintegrate his people with the lost ideals of his ancestors and so began to gather and convert those of like and unlike minds. High atop Rimmen's hill, Illunus embarked upon a journey that would forever change his people. On that fateful day, Illunus began to preach of a better era for dragon-kind. He told of a time of unity, strength and purpose and urged that they no longer needed be lost mortals in the purposeless realm to which their bodies were binded. Each member of dragon-kind had the opportunity to recognize the powerful blood flowing through him or her and to embrace the Dragon spirit that often lay hidden. To ensure this newfound
brotherhood, Illunus formed the Drakontas Sporos around the truths he had uncovered. The clan would encompass the ideals of Dragons long ago; they would maintain fraternity to strengthen them, and would continue his quest of knowledge while revering the source from whom they had been given so much.

Taking note of Illunus' activities, the Dragon council were quick to notice his unparalleled ambition, devotion and research-guided wisdom. They had not seen the qualities he possessed in centuries and convened to discuss his future potential. Among them, they decided that Illunus would continue his quest as Para-mortal, renewing the strength that dragon-kind once possessed. Moreover, he would continue his quest as a messiah to mortal kind; to inform and teach them about the intricacies he discovered as a draconian and Dragon.

A powerful force soon descended to Illunus, First Dragon and head of the council. Bahamut brought with him a gift unto Illunus, para-mortality and a place among the council were soon bestowed upon him. Illunus, again immersed himself in this newfound portal of knowledge. With his full being, Illunus soaked up all that he could of the Dragons; their past, their goals and the destiny that awaited them. Within the council's library of wisdom, among the greatest group of scholars to ever exist, he was able to study the very core of the universe.

As Illunus continued on his path, the heavens soon took notice of his convicted influence. Just as the Dragon council had done previously, they began to take note of his activities and deemed that his ascension to the Heavens would serve his kind well. Illunus ascended not as an end to his quest, but to continue, as not only a Para-mortal teacher, not only an emissary of Dragon-kind, but further, as an eternal guide to Para-mortal and mortal alike.

The same tenants with which he lived his life have guided Illunus' eternity. Only through scholarship can one understand the past that contextualizes the present. Only within fraternity can one truly embrace an authentic identity and only through one's unique vision can the world be seen and altered for the better.
