Areas of Influence: Freedom
Symbol: A Soaring Eagle
Alignment: Neutral
Race: Giant

Long ago, when the earth was young and ripe for new heroes and adventurers, a young giant, calm and sure of himself, came to seek fame and fortune. A happy fellow always, Barsak spent his time making friends with as many people as possible. Gnomes, elves, dwarves or humans, it made no difference to him. One gnome in particular, a gnome cleric, he became exceptionally close to. She showed him that life was a precious thing, as was death, and neither should be thought of as things forbidden or dirty. To live and die is to do so with your heart. He eventually fell in love with this gnome, and asked for her hand in marriage. She, being the crafty and devious gnome that she was, went out of her way to drive Barsak to insanity. She succeeded...

As they spent much time together, she repeatedly would seduce the other women that were with them, all the while taunting Barsak. He literally lost his mind. Ranting and raving like a madman, shouting in the streets about a strange race of psychedelic (and ultimately unseen) creatures, Barsak was thought to be beyond hope. Having little care for his own life and well being, he took dangerous risks with the hopes of entertaining someone, his only reward being that of a smile or laugh.

Eventually, after living this strange life and leading the House known as the Outlaws for some time, he reached the rank of Hero among the warriors guild. This was a grand time indeed, as Lord Styx brought Barsak into a bare room to speak with him. After many hours, Styx asked Barsak for his clothes, and quickly swallowed them, granting Barsak ascension into the heavens.

As he grew Immortal, Barsak thought back to his youth and the original teachings of his gnome friend. Life and Death with heart. Freedom to do as one pleases no matter what the cost. Remembering these teachings, Barsak quickly sought out to teach the rest of the realm what he had learned. Using his heavenly powers he built a temple and started a religion of the soaring eagle, one whose focus is on freedom in its entirety, something which has survived to this very day.
