Ashanti Darksbane

Areas of Influence: Determination, Preservation, and Devotion
Symbol: N/A
Alignment: Good
Race: Changeling

A young changeling came from the faraway land of Hemoloth. He found that he had a calling for the magical arts and having heard that Thera was a place of powerful mages he decided to go there to learn. He did indeed learn much while in Thera. He found that he had a calling in protecting and aiding his fellow mortals. Feeling this call he decided to specialize in the arts of the Abjurer.

He saw all the pain and anguish that those of the dark path were inflicting upon all of Thera. One of the Tree saw that this young changeling cared greatly for Thera and decided to take a chance upon him. Faenor brought him into the Tree. He taught him how a true member of the light would behave and treat others. Ashanti quickly learned all of these things. He excelled on the inside of the Tree, even becoming Leader of the House of Life. He always thought that the only true way to turn one of the darkness was by converting him, not slaying him. He thought compassion was the ultimate weapon to use. He used his knowledge while he was the leader of the Tree and seemed to help many of the dark on their way. However, he received word that his mother took ill and was on her deathbed. While on her deathbed, in her last breath, she asked Ashanti to continue to fight in his way, in his forgiving attitude. He agreed, and spent the remainder of his life in Hemoloth trying to push back the tide of darkness with warmth and kindness.

He died, however, violently. Stabbed in the back by one who did not like his words. As he bled to death in the streets many came who mourned him, but then by many who laughed and mocked him as he lay dying. His soul was torn by this torment, and did not pass on to the other world. Rather it began to float around, haunting many people and places. His soul was greatly disturbed by the growing lack of compassion and caring for one another. In these feelings grew a strange pull back to the world of Thera. Once his soul had arrived, it began to notice that even the beings of goodness and light were becoming crueler and more uncaring for those around them.

This greatly disturbed Ashanti. To think that once these beings were so good and noble, but now were as bloodthirsty as those whom they fought. With all the strength his soul had left, he sent a petition to the heavens. Asking for a place, so that true goodness and true light would still have a place. Where compassion and forgiveness were valued more than death and destruction. With the message, his soul began to drift apart, but still not passing on.
