Remember that this is a roleplaying atmosphere. In general, if it is extremely bad roleplaying, it is against the rules. Dark Mists is not a Chat Room or a dating service. If a divine presence imposes their will or themselves
upon you, you must bend to it. Do not ask a divine presence 'who they
are'. If they want you to know, they will tell you. Being here is a
privilege, not a right. MULTICHARRING: You may play more than one character,
BUT you may only have one logged in at a time. PERIOD. You may not roll
more than one character at a time, you may not play a character and
roll another at the same time, you may not drop equipment with one character
and pick it up with another. In fact, no character may have first-hand
knowledge of another in any Anyone who assists people in multicharring, i.e. holding equipment while they transfer it, 'looking the other way', etc, will be punished harshly. Multicharring of any form is not tolerated whatsoever. Switching in between two or more characters in
rapid succession can constitute bad roleplaying. You cannot realistically
play by logging in, who pk, where pk, and quit. That is a dedicated
PK character, not a role-played character. Do not build characters solely for the purpose of PK'ing: even serial killers have a story and a purpose. Entire worlds are not made up of serial killers: they are a very small percentage of the population. People PK'ing who do not have descriptions will be severely punished. Descriptions are mandatory here; they help define
your char, who you are, what you are and what you believe. Read 'HELP
DESCRIPTION'. Those found to be past the 5th rank without a desc will
be sat in an empty room for hours and hours until it is finished and
decent. Committing suicide to a mob or player to lose a CRIMINAL flag will result in slaying and purging of equipment. If done too much, you will be denied. This includes dropping your equipment somewhere for this purpose. Paladins and Monks are to use serious discretion when breaking the law and should respect the law whenever possible. Sometimes it is necessary to break the law and will be acceptable. Guildmasters may banish those deemed too criminally active. DO NOT, in any way, shape, or form, exploit bugs. Exploitation will result in possible denial. Report any bugs you find. SPAMMING IS ILLEGAL. (Spam is filling up someone's screen with needless repetition of anything.) You will be given one warning and then denied. Don't do it. Sexual harassment will not be tolerated. If both
parties do not consent Useless characters will not be tolerated. This includes people who log on just to shout obscenities, advertise other muds, store equipment, or anything else that is indicative of them wasting our time and your time. LINK DROPPING: Dropping link to avoid a PK, or immediately quitting after you loot a corpse or PK someone is EXTREMELY bad roleplay and will be punished accordingly. In fact, quitting or dropping link to avoid consequences of any kind is a mark of bad roleplay. A 20 tick timer will keep you from quitting soon after being in a fight with another player. Drop link and you'll still be vulnerable for a while, so be careful. OBSCENE/PROFANE LANGUAGE: Yelling bad words (you know what they are, we don't have to list them) will result in a smiting, possibly a slaying, and in some cases, denial. Use of this type of language in any public channel (group, house, yell, auction, etc.) is forbidden. Use of this language in private channels (tell, ooctell) might result in severe punishment if the recipient of your message is offended by the language you use. Best way to avoid punishment is to keep your language clean. The Pantheon will not do for mortals what mortals
can do for themselves. Always consider if someone visible can help you
out of a bad situation before praying for help from the gods; this most
definitely includes rescue from rooms without exits. No special character (class/race) combinations. Period. Don't even ask for them. IF you see someone running around with a special combination, it was granted to them to further an Immortal's end and has been approved by an Implementor. Again, DON'T ask for special, unorthodox characters. Play with the classes and races we have, and work your RP around that restriction. NO requests for titles will be accepted prior to the individual reaching hero rank, 51. Immortals will sometimes grant special titles to people lower than 51, but that is at their discretion. DO NOT ask for a special title unless you are 51. That also applies even if you are a member of a house. Do not ask for one. We will determine if you are worthy of a title to represent your house. Also, if you are 51, make sure you have a reason for deserving a title other than: "Well, I reached level 51." Character restores will not be permitted at this time. If your reason for losing your character is "I got mad and decided to delete, now I'm regretting it." That's your problem, not ours. We are not a flea market. Do not seek out Immortals to trade in your old skills for new ones, just because the old ones aren't as flashy as they used to be, or because you don't feel they are useful. Some skills and spells have a roleplay value or function (they are part of your guild training, and allow you to become more knowledgeable of higher skills/spells), and some have a practical and power-based role or function. You take the good with the bad. If you feel there should be changes, then propose a new subclass or race. Alignment Changes: Alignment changes will be swift and severe, and usually the result of your having done actions against your current alignment. This usually results in the loss of SOMETHING, be it your spells, some skills, or statistics. Alignment changes are BAD things. Alignment change requests will usually NOT be honored (so avoid making them). A race is inherently evil for a reason, a race is entirely good for a REASON. That's why we have, and will continue to have, subraces. Not every character in the world can suddenly have an epiphany that they are really tender, loving and kind if they come from a race that puts no value on a life other than their own. As such, due to the number of alignment change requests we've gotten we are enforcing and asking that you pick your alignment carefully, and not ask to be changed. If you ACTIONS deem that you be changed (and if you roleplay it well enough, we'll know about it), expect it to come at a loss of something else. Again, the races and classes are made what they are for a purpose. If you think they should be different, then propose a subclass or subrace.
