We emphasize roleplaying here. It is mandatory. A role is exactly that, it is the role a person plays in the world. Everyone in Dark Mists must maintain a role. Every character has his own personality created from his life history, his life experiences, and born traits. All choices made during player creation and after define one's role. Playing your role can consist of the way you speak, the way you act, the friends you make, the house or brand you seek, who you help, who you befriend and make enemies with, the places you like to go, or the clothes you like to wear. Everyone's role is different. We don't want thoughtless killers, equipment hoarders, or other useless 'robots' with no personality and total lack of roleplay. If you want to play an interesting game with interesting game attributes, you must be yourself interesting. You're not just controlling some intangible character on a mud. You are a person living in Dark Mists, here to decide your own destiny, succeed in your own goals, and define your individuality. If you see bad roleplaying, please report it to the immortals, we do as much as we can but sometimes we all must make an effort and encourage others to roleplay. Sometimes the only way for someone to change is from the good advice of a friend. Please speak with the immortals if you have any questions. Remember, that in roleplaying, there is always
a possibility for your character to grow in a new direction, one that
you may not have seen or anticipated when you first developed your characters
personality. There are stories of paladins that spent their entire lives
fighting the encroaching darkness only to finally be turned to evil
and become their champion. It is stories like this that the players
develop and nurture as they play the life of their character. Twists
and turns abound at every encounter. | ||||
