It was kinda Conclave getting the kills and Dominion having the gauntlet down for most of the weekend. We did kill Malagor though, although that was rather strange due to my own silliness...

Quite the opposite, how about killing you two more times before we can guild? Did you just want us to stay there and kill you until you ghost?

Further to above, it was kind of disappointing to find-out Crusaders are speculating about what had happened. Last we heard was that we killed Skean 4 on 1! Anyway, here are the facts. After we killed Skean, we went to Rimmen. I guess Caps forgot that Skean was a shapeshifter and this is what happened:

Skean has arrived.

Thagrin's divine power PULVERIZES Skean!
The troll citizen's crush MUTILATES Skean!
Skean quickly flies backward and dodges your stab.

And then he came again, trying to strike us (we were seeing “Gods protect you from Skean” messages) and we killed him again. He came back and tried the same thing, fourth time. This time we were all able to guild before he comes back to our blood sight…

This one I asked for. The others was you guys just trying to act tough. You are never alone Ksenia, you are always with others, when your not you just yell out from your guild talking trash. Its how you and your crew play, its pathetic, but its the only way you can keep all your precious things. Im just waiting to see you all on the Wall of Shame AGAIN for some sort of cheating, as if your mass logins arent shady enough.

We have a couple more situations that ended in denial (mass denial in one case).

After hearing OOC that Joad was looking for a certain weapon, Faerolil put the weapon on a vampiric mist and sent the mist after Joad. Players who witnessed this event, including Joad, were very confused as to how that made any kind of sense -- and it didn't. It was a completely OOC act. To top it off, when our Imm tried to explain what Faerolil did wrong, he made all kinds of crazy excuses. Keep in mind that this guy has played DM for a long time and knows better; in fact, he knew exactly what he was doing in this situation, whatever he told our Imm, and he did not really care. Faerolil was passed to this player (same player behind Nigel) at some point. Here are some select excuses:

Q. Why did you send the mist after Joad?
A. because I felt like it? honestly, I do whatever is needed to destroy my enemies

Q. Giving a crusader a powerful spear benefits you?
A. when they flee in terror from him, Im there waiting

Anyway, we all had a good laugh at this, but because he waffled around and because there were some other circumstances surrounding this gift having to do with Crusader, we denied the character.

Then there was the case of Talonius and his elder character Mallecai. In the first place, before our rule change, he was massively multirolling. Then, when he did make it into the game, he leveled up to 5, switched to Mallecai, killed some mobs to drop some equipment, switched back to Talonius, and grabbed that equipment.

He is mentioned here for two reasons. First, he complained about getting caught and said the usual "everyone does it" thing, saying we should get everyone who does this. Second, while I was just now doublechecking this incident in the logs, I found out he did this exact same thing with his other character Xavius! X made it to level 10, switched to Mallecai, killed some imperial mobs, switched back to Xavius, and grabbed the equipment off the ground. I have denied Xavius offline.

And now that I look further, he has done the same thing through Mallecai for his characters Vorcha, Guenhylar, Naberius, and Malganis/Xanator (renamed). Cross-checking these characters, I find similar instances of equipment transfer for other characters he played: Guarin and Baelgar. That brings us to eight characters for the same player who cheated. Three were already deleted by the player (Naberius, Guenhylar, and Xanator). The rest are now denied.

The amusing thing to me is this, and it tends to be true outside the game: Usually when people claim that "everyone does this or that", they are projecting themselves onto others. It is a dead giveaway that they have probably done the same thing before. I did not expect so many for this one player, though.

No no, this is a bad thing! Smile We have not had Walls lately because people have pretty much been on the up-and-up. (Or we have not been watching as closely.) I like not having to write up a Wall.

the Malevolent
What Xurinos wrote is all what happened, I don't deny it. What I've done was stupid, and resulted in loosing two fully mastered hero characters over few pieces of arkham guard gear on beggining of characters lives.

However, I will note that reason why I did it is not completely same as what Xurinos wrote(not an excuse or anything similar). Back a few weeks, mud at hours when I like to play to relax and try something new was completely empty, there was no new people, and playerbase was numbered around 10-15 at peak times (now is different, we got new players in). And since I returned from few years break, I had noone to ask for help, assistance or similar, I was only one online, and couldn't log during peak hours due to work. Now, if you ever had to level character alone from 1 to 40 (imagine pure caster at it), without anyone in mud at all, you solo on who roster, you would know how I felt. Did me killing arkham guard with one character, then looting stuff 30 minutes later with my alt helped anything or fastened my leveling? No, but it gave a slight dose of security I won't get my chars raped while not paying attention for a moment since it was boring as hell leveling alone, as only one online.

I don't deny what I did, and I indeed broke the rules. However, what I've done was in no intention to destroy muds balance, hoard, involve OOC rings into it, or in any way hurt or beat someone. Sadly, all those things happen on regular basis, every single day, and we are sole witnesses of it.

I'm sad I won't be there to hold the line with other Clavers against Sader zerg, and perhaps do a thing or two to improve the House. My mess, and I pay for it. And with that, I send my goodbyes.

I wish you all a lot of fun and good times ahead.

Sincerely,

X

I think its strange to see another person go for cheating just after you accuse others of cheating. Sounds awful familiar. *taps his chin in thought*

To be honest, I could have argued the point out as there
was an rp event beyond it but I've learned one thing
over the years. Being in Realm of the Dead is like being

I was looking through one of my old hard drives and I came across Riallus's first (and only?) podcast, an hour-long mp3 where he discussed the state of the mud. Most of it was about plans for the then-near future, so it's not much relevant now, but one section made me curious. He describes spending a significant amount of money on software that was to enable the pantheon to create dynamic maps of Thera from the area files, and says the plan was to make those maps available to players on the DM site.

I may not understand the software (does it make one overall map of the game? or one for each area?), but I'm curious to know what became of that. Did that software disappear with Riallus? Did it not pan out or not function as intended? Are the immortals just sitting on the generated maps? If it's that last case, does the pantheon plan to make them public in the future?

I'll state that I am completely unaware of said software, or any generated maps. I am guessing Ny also doesn't have any maps, as we had a player map all the ones that are listed on the maps section of the forum.

I, too, am unaware. I heard about the software, but I do not remember if Riallus made the purchase or how far he got on the maps.

No clue here either. One thing that was being worked on (that I believe isn't being worked on right now..) was a map of all of Thera with detailed maps inside. It would be a website with links to the appropriate area location with a full map of that location. If someone (or several) folks are interested in doing this, let me know.

Mini-example:

Ethshar -- Along the Eastern Road -- Tyr-Zinet
                  |
         Poorhouse
             | |
         Gym-Glyndane

Each one of those names would be a link to the map of the city/area.

I've actually been discussing this for quite some time with some old DM friends, have one in particular that says he could handle such a project... but he'd need access to the area files. Thus why I'd refrained from mentioning it. I've been wanting the graphic map for years.

Deity of Love, Loyalty, Diplomacy & Nature

If I remember correctly, we did try the software for a little while (I don't think it was a graphic map though, it was more like a text map), but then Fastolph came up with his Theraformer program for building areas, and within that program was an excellent method for generating maps (text, but there was a graphic map also which was more a help to area builders). So we used that, but I guess we more focused on using it to help us see where our exit errors might be rather than generating maps to post somewhere. My personal latest version of the Theraformer seems to be broken because I have been unable to get it to generate maps without hanging or crashing my computer. *sigh* I loved the Theraformer for generating maps. It helped me working on the Kingdoms project.

Yeah, I'd be up for doing this, it shouldn't be too hard of a project as long as the area files are accessible.

That's twice I have seen that... Why are the area files necessary for producing maps? Couldn't people just walk around in the areas and plot it in graph paper or via mapping features in MUD clients? Sure, the area files would make it much easier to automate map creation (and be really accurate), but that ruins some of the fun. Interested players could create maps based on what they have discovered, similarly to every other MMORPG out there where they have copy-pasted overlapping map images or have produced their own maps using some mapping program.

There was a graphic map that Riallus made it was based on some 8 bit graphics, I think it was Dragonknight or something like that.
